Fuel Tank Nut Retainer – KLR650 Gen 1. Designed to solve the common issue of stripped and cross-threaded tank mounting holes inside the frame. The part slides into position from beneath the frame bracket to hold standard M8 hex nuts securely. Strip those too? Simply change them!

This item fits the Kawasaki KLR650 Gen 1 from 1987 to 2007. It is produced from carbon fiber reinforced nylon, a material chosen specifically for its high rigidity, strength under torque and chemical resistance to fuel.

Fix spinning or cross-threaded fuel tank mounting hardware without cutting, welding or tapping your frame.

On first-generation Kawasaki KLR650 models (1987–2007), the factory-captured nuts used to bolt down the rear of the fuel tank are highly prone to cross-threading, stripping out or breaking completely free from their internal frame welds. Once these hidden nuts begin to spin freely or lose their threads, tightening or removing the fuel tank bolts becomes impossible.

At R3print Moto, we produce this drop-in fuel tank nut retainer block. It allows you to completely bypass the broken factory hardware.

Simply remove or clear out the old stripped nuts, press two standard M8 hex nuts directly into the slots of this retainer and slide the assembly into place from the bottom of the frame bracket structure. The channels lock the new nuts securely in place, preventing them from spinning while you torque down your fuel tank mounting bolts from above. Even if you manage to strip the M8 hex nuts in the future, you can easily swap them out and drop fresh ones in.
