On first-generation Kawasaki KLR650 models (1987–2007), the side fairings utilize an integrated inner mesh grill directly in front of the coolant reservoir. This screen is vital for channeling airflow while deflecting rocks, branches or trail debris kicked up by the front tire. However, after decades of exposure to engine heat, solar UV rays and trail riding, the factory plastic mesh can easily break, leaving your plastic coolant reservoir exposed and ruining the bike’s aesthetics. Until now, if your mesh broke, Kawasaki required buying a complete, expensive outer radiator shroud panel (partnumber: 4908950286 or 4908950306) just to get a fresh screen.
