We recommend the following process for painting to achieve the best results on our CB400 side covers:

1. Sand with  medium coarse (220/320 grit) and work up until finer grits (400/600). Use wetsanding for a cleaner finish;
2. Clean the part with a tack cloth or isopropyl achohol to remove all dust, oils and remaining residue;
3. Use a primer designed for plastics as the part will flex (e.g. during installation). Generally apply in multiple light coats;
4. Wet sand the primer to achieve a very smooth surface finish. Clean again with a tack cloth or isopropyl;
5. Paint in multiple thin even coats to prevent drips or running;
6. Apply the 400FOUR stickers;
7. Finish with multiple thin even clearcoats.
